2011. toy soldier.
shortcut sweater and minnie pants by j.crew. liz claiborne blouse (thrifted). gloria wedges by bedstu.
whenever i wear red and black, i feel like a christmas nutcracker (sans beard) or toy soldier. i bought the minnie pants in september to jazz up my school wardrobe. i’ve received compliments from both coworkers and kiddos; teachers don’t usually wear red pants, i guess!
my friend lisa (of respect the shoes) recently turned the volume down on her leopard blouse by pairing it with a simple black sweater. i told lisa that her strategy inspired a future outfit, and here it is! i’ve spotted the leopard, red, and black combination on other bloggers, too, and everyone seems to put their own little twist on it.
to me, personal style isn’t very different from the childhood game of telephone. fashion starts with a source like a RTW show, editorial, catalog, or friend. as it gets passed along, the interpretation changes, as it should. that’s what makes telephone tons of fun.
